Safe-t-mate Anti-rollback System for Wheelchairs

The Safe-t-mate Anti-rollback System for Wheelchairs prevents a wheelchair from rolling backward and helps prevent falls. As the wheelchair user begins to stand, the device grabs the tires to prevent the chair from rolling backward. When the user is seated, the device is in standby mode and the chair can be easily moved in all directions.

How it works: The Safe-t-mate Anti-rollback System attaches to the rear of most sling seat wheelchairs. A lever directly contacts the underside of the seat and is mechanically linked to the brake arms. If the user begins to stand, the brake arms clamp down on the wheels, preventing the chair from rolling backward. When the user is seated, the brake arms automatically unlock, and the chair can roll freely. A center override lever allows an unoccupied wheelchair to easily be moved. This lever can be removed without affecting the operation of the anti-rollback device.

The Safe-t-mate Anti-rollback System for Wheelchairs is available for standard width (16 - 20 inch) wheelchairs and extra wide (22 - 24 inch) wheelchairs. The advanced design of the anti-rollback device adjusts to fit a variety of chairs. Adapter kits for the following wheelchairs are available: Quickie Breezy 500, 600, Ultra 4, 510, Invacare 9000XT Super-hemi, Insignia, and SX5 Reclining Wheelchair, Tracer IV, SX5 High back, and wheelchairs that have frames made of tubing larger than 1-inch diameter.
