The Shure-Step Senior Safety Step is a durable, heavy-duty plastic utility step with a large non-slip top surface. Thoughtfully designed with a wedge shape and non-skid pads, this safety step provides users with a safe way to step up into a bus, van, truck, or bed.
The Shure-Step Senior Safety Step is a great mobility aid designed to assist users with limited mobility who have trouble stepping up into a transportation vehicle. The bottom wedge design and non-skid pads prevent the step from sliding on slick and wet surfaces. The black-and-yellow contrasting colors help make it easier to see. Often elderly people have difficulty stepping up onto the high first step of a bus or van because the step is usually about 12-14 inches high up from the ground. This safe and sturdy step stool cuts that distance in half for users when stepping up to or out of the bus or van. This heavy-duty safety step is rated for 500 pounds and does not flex or bend. Other less expensive steps flex and bend under the user's weight and feel unstable. Other step stools have legs that can cause a tripping hazard when residents get their feet caught under the legs. The wedge-shaped perimeter wall of this safety step allows the user to move their shoe towards the step until the toe of their shoe makes contact with the side of the step stool. Then the user knows to raise their foot up until they place their foot securely on the top of the step and then set their weight down on top of the step. The textured surface on top prevents the user’s feet from slipping. Six large rubber pads on the bottom of the step keep the step from moving, even if it is set on a wet, slick concrete floor, and will not slip or slide when someone was stepping on it. The bright contrasting colors allow users to see the edges of the step better. Made from Linear Low-Density Polyethylene which is a very durable and elastic type of plastic, it is the same plastic used to make the orange traffic barrels for highway construction. The double-walled construction provides excellent durability and ruggedness, but it is still lightweight and weighs only 10 pounds. This step stool also works great for physical therapy after knee or hip replacement and provides an easy-to-transport platform for users to stair step up & down 6 inches. This step was designed with the input of 4 directors of retirement communities and 2 physical therapists to assist seniors with entering & exiting buses and rehab after knee and hip surgery.
